Infection Control and PPE Basics

The Infection Control and PPE Basics course is designed to equip disability and aged care workers, nurses, cleaners, and administrative staff with the essential knowledge and skills required to prevent and control infections in care settings. Aligned with the NDIS Practice Standards, Aged Care Quality Standards, Safe Work Australia, and national Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Guidelines, this course provides a practical and compliant framework for safe and hygienic service delivery.

Through structured modules, learners will understand how infections spread, the role of standard and additional precautions, correct use of PPE, and the importance of hand hygiene and cleaning procedures. The course also focuses on adapting infection control practices to community and in-home care environments, and effectively responding to exposure or outbreaks.

By the end of this course, participants will be confident in applying safe infection control practices tailored to their care environment, protecting both themselves and the individuals they support.
