Rights of NDIS Participants

The Participant Rights in Disability Support course is designed to provide support workers, coordinators, and disability service staff with the knowledge and skills needed to protect, promote, and respect the rights of individuals under their care. Grounded in the NDIS Act and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the course introduces the foundations of participant rights and explains why they are essential to ethical, person-centred support.

Throughout the modules, learners will explore key NDIS rights including dignity, privacy, access to services, and freedom from abuse or discrimination. The course also emphasizes practical application—teaching how to uphold autonomy, support cultural identity, respect decision-making, and recognise when rights are at risk. Staff will learn how to respond appropriately and take action when they witness potential violations, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all participants.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to apply rights-based approaches in daily care tasks, from communication to personal support routines. This training supports compliance with NDIS Practice Standards and strengthens the capacity of workers to deliver inclusive, respectful, and empowering support services.
