This course aims to equip disability and aged care support workers with a clear understanding of their professional role and responsibilities within NDIS and aged care environments. By completing the modules, learners will:
-
Understand the scope of a support worker’s duties across various care settings including Supported Independent Living (SIL), home, and community support, with a strong focus on promoting client dignity, independence, and safety.
-
Develop knowledge of workplace boundaries and ethical behaviour, including how to maintain professional relationships, avoid over-involvement, and support participants respectfully and non-judgmentally.
-
Gain skills in effective communication and accurate documentation, enabling them to write clear shift notes, escalate incidents appropriately, and collaborate with other professionals as part of a broader care team.
-
Be aware of legal, safety, and compliance responsibilities such as adhering to the NDIS Code of Conduct, recognising the importance of mandatory reporting, and working within their authorised scope of practice.
-
Build confidence in teamwork and internal reporting structures, helping learners understand who to report to, when to escalate issues, and how to work collaboratively with clients, families, allied health, and management.
-
Complete a final assessment to consolidate learning and verify knowledge of core responsibilities, ethics, and care delivery expectations within their role.
Upon successful completion, learners will be better prepared to deliver safe, respectful, and competent care in line with regulatory standards and organisational policies.
