This course is designed to equip Disability Support Workers, Nurses, Coordinators, and Administrative staff with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for effective incident identification, response, and reporting in line with the NDIS Incident Management and Reportable Incidents Rules 2018, Aged Care Quality Standards, and the Work Health and Safety Act.
By the end of the course, participants will:

Understand what constitutes an incident, why timely and accurate reporting is essential, and how it impacts client safety and organisational accountability.

Recognise their legal and ethical responsibilities in managing incidents, including distinguishing between different types such as accidents, injuries, restrictive practices, and reportable incidents.

Respond appropriately during and immediately after an incident, ensuring safety, emotional support, and environmental control.

Develop clear, factual, and objective incident reports using structured documentation methods.

Navigate internal reporting systems (like Bamboo Care) and know when and how to escalate matters to external bodies such as the NDIS Commission, Police, or WorkSafe.

Participate in reflective practices and use incident trends to improve service delivery, update organisational policies, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
